As photographers we spend a significant amount of time fine-tuning images on displays. Sometimes they are for consumption on others’ displays, such as a smartphone or tablet; other times they are done for printing. Awareness of color management and some basic fundamental understanding can help speed up your color workflow, as well as make your images look better and more consistent.
This session will give you a color management overview and demonstrate how it can apply to your workflow. You’ll learn best practices and get answers to many commonly asked questions such as:
· What is Delta E and what does it mean to me?
· My display is brighter than my prints—how do I correct for this?
· My display does not match my phone—how can I fix this?
· and many more!
In addition, this session will introduce you to the world of displays, especially one made for a color-critical photography workflow. You’ll learn about the different types of displays, software versus hardware calibration, and important criteria to consider when choosing a color-accurate monitor, such as color gamut coverage, resolution, uniformity, and matte versus glossy coating
